Ryan Millbern has instructed Law Enforcement, Military, Contractors, & Private Security K9 teams around the world and has over 18 years of K9 management, training, and handling experience within Law Enforcement, High Threat Overseas Security Contracting, and Domestic Security Operations. This experience includes positions as K9 Handler, K9 Trainer, Police K9 Instructor, Director of Working Dog Operations, and Senior Program Manager of K9 Operations covering initiation of new K9 programs, assessment & improvement protocols for existing K9 program, creating K9 program specific corporate and law enforcement policies/SOPs, developing operational deployment strategies and establishing K9 and Handler testing and selection procedures. Ryan currently serves as the President of the International Casino & Resort Working Dog Association and also as the Senior Program Manager of K9 Operations for the multi-award winning Wynn Las Vegas K9 Unit.

Ryan has trained scores of Police, Contract, and Security working dogs and handlers in numerous disciplines including explosives detection, narcotics detection, wildlife conservation detection, human remains detection, bed bug detection, scent discriminate trailing, patrol apprehension, and personal protection. He has obtained Instructor, Trainer, and Handler certifications from various entities including ATF, DEA, U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of State, Colorado Police Canine Association, North American Police Work Dog Association, United States Police Canine Association, Southern Coast K9, Silver State K9, Ford K9 Training, and Hill Country Dog Center. Additionally, Ryan more than doubled sales and dramatically increased product quality, educational enrichment, brand reputation & integrity during his tenure as Director of Working Dog Operations with a struggling Police K9 Handler school in North Carolina.

Ryan is a retired Police Officer, a North Carolina Board of Community Colleges approved Police K9 Master Trainer School Instructor, a Nevada PILB Certified Firearms Instructor, a human borne explosives decoy currently supporting TSA’s National Explosives Detection Canine Training Program (NEDCTP) at airports across the United States and presently holds federal security clearances. He is also proud to serve as the Senior Program Manager of K9 Operations for Wynn|Encore Las Vegas, overseeing a large multi-threat vector K9 Unit tasked with the protection of over 13,000 employees and guests across the sprawling Forbes 5-Star rated resort.

Andy received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Gardner Webb University before beginning a successful 28-year career at a Fortune 50 retailer where he was responsible for an annual budget of over $250 million focusing on procurement, vendor, and contract management. He spent his career building programs to support a fast-paced, ever-changing retail environment, balancing cost, risk, and efficiency to benefit the organization and the end customer. 

Upon retirement, Andy formally followed his a life-long passion of training man’s best friend by attending a full-time, intensive 6 month K9 Master Trainer Course. During his coursework, Andy fell in love with the complexity and nuance of Police & working dog training protocols. He also enjoyed supporting the law enforcement community with highly trained Police dogs. 

Upon graduation, Andy completed an internship within the school’s Working Dog division and was not only offered a position, but quickly rose to Lead Manager of the entire program. He worked closely with Law Enforcement, Military and Government agencies along with private security companies with K9 training, sales and selection, as well as handler training and certifications. During his tenure, Andy trained specialize K9 Teams including: Narcotics Detection, Bed Bug Detection, Conservation Detection, Livestock Recovery, Search and Rescue, Human Remains Detection, & Truffle Detection.

After accomplishing his lifelong goal of becoming a K9 Master Trainer, Andy decided to assist his wife in achieving her lifelong goal of launching the Brushy Mountain Granola Company, which creates small batch and unique blends of the highest quality and best tasting granola on the market.

Wayne Ferrari

Wayne’s diverse background spanning over 17 years includes K9 handling, training, course development & instruction, and K9 program management assistance at the highest of levels of private security and government agencies across Australia and Asia. 

This experience covers explosives detection, tracking, trailing, and patrol/apprehension K9s. Wayne is particularly skilled at real life - scenario based decoy/agitation work and instruction ensuring that every students and dog leaves well rounded and ready for any challenge their operational environment may provide. 

Wayne continues to train detection, trailing, and apprehension working dogs as well as instruct seminars & handler schools as the K9 Training Coordinator for the Australian Working Patrol Dog Association as well as the Owner/Director of Training of Tactix K9.

Branden Loock

Brandon began his K9 career in 2009, with his local Search & Rescue group handling a human remains detection and live find air scenting K9. After leaving SAR work, he was employed with a local working dog vendor helping to train and certify hundreds of Law Enforcement K9s in numerous disciplines including Explosives, Narcotics, Wildlife, Evidence Recovery, SAR, as well as and apprehension patrol dogs.

Currently, Brandon is the Owner & Training Director of High Definition K9 which provides explosives & narcotics detection services to local sports venues/arenas as well providing private dog training. Brandon and K9 Leara are an ICRWDA certified EDD team. Additionally, he trains and sells K9s in Narcotics, Explosives, Bedbug Detection, and provides handler instruction for sport teams for nose work with AKC/UKC/NACSW scents.

Brandon brings a keen K9 trainers eye, unmatched enthusiasm, and a unique coaching ability to the ICRWDA staff that we are thankful to have.

Randall Caldwell

Las Vegas, Nevada

Randall began his K9 career in 2019 working as an IPWDA certified Person-Borne Explosive Detection Dog Handler assigned to numerous NFL & MLB venues across the United States. Since that time, he has worked his way up through the K9 ranks to the position of K9 Program Manager for one of the largest private security K9 programs in Las Vegas at Protective Force International (NV PILB# 2687).

Randall currently holds a NV PILB Armed Officer License, is a certified Narcotics Detection Team with his partner K9 Cerebus and is a Sabre OC Spray instructor, ASP instructor, First Aid instructor, & Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Instructor.

Prior to moving to the private sector, Randall proudly served the United States as a Marine Corps Military Police Officer serving at Camp Pendleton after graduating from MCRD San Diego in 2012.

ICRWDA is fortunate to include Randall’s military law enforcement/private security K9 knowledge and expertise to our K9 Handler training program.

Heather Kaufmann

Heather “Nicky” Kaufmann served in the United States Marine Corps for seven years of active duty including Marine Security Embassy Guard duty. Upon her honorable discharge from the Corps at the rank of Sergeant, Heather began to pursue a K9 career.

Heather has been working with K9s for eight years with single and dual-purpose explosive detection within the private sector.  She has provided perimeter security to effectively detect, deter, and mitigate potential threats, risks and hazards for thousands of guests and private sector employees to include sweeps for the safety of company assets, guests, high profile personnel and events at the Wynn Las Vegas, The Venetian Hotel & Casino, and multiple concert and sporting events at venues across Las Vegas. Heather was the first female K9 Specialist hired for the Venetian Hotel & Casino K9 Unit. Throughout her experience, Heather has assisted with training and building of multiple K9 teams for law enforcement and private sector security.  Heather has been a judge for the K9 Olympics in 2019 hosted by Vohn Liche Kennels and has is a Certifying Official for the American Working Dog Association as well as ICRWDA. She is also a community liaison for the Bomb Making Awareness Program provided by the Department of Homeland Security.  

Heather graduated the University of Las Vegas, Nevada with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and was accepted into the National Society of Leadership and Success in 2021. Heather currently works as a dog trainer for Marissa Abram at Dog Wizard Las Vegas and also provides K9 services through her own business, AnubisK9s LLC.

Tanner Grutz

Tanner Grutz is a United States Air Force veteran. During his service in the USAF, Grutz worked in corrections, as a recruiter, then transitioned to the K9 unit where he led initiatives and trained units for deployments. Grutz managed the largest combat kennel in the command.

After 13 years of service and reaching the rank of Technical Sergeant, Grutz was honorably discharged from the USAF. Following his honorable discharge, Grutz continued his commitment to service and protection by joining MSA Security. As a member of the Canine Detection Program, Grutz began as an explosive detection canine handler where he rose through the ranks to become a Regional Manager & Detection K9 Trainer. Grutz and his canine partner provided security support at NFL and MLB venues across the country, and to the TSA Cargo Program. Grutz and his canine partner had a 100 percent certification pass success rate and received honors for their contributions leading to the successful implementation of new initiatives with government partners. As a result of Grutz’ leadership and dedication, the teams under his training also had a 100 percent pass rate.

Grutz’ K9 background also includes being a certified Silver NePoPo graduate and an experienced Service Dog Trainer specializing in Diabetic Alert K9s.

In 2022, Grutz returned to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he worked for MGM Resorts International as a specially trained member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT).

In addition to his impressive K9 training background, Grutz also has extensive defensive firearms and tactical experience. ICRWDA is honored to have Grutz as an Instructor and Certifying Official. Welcome to the team Tanner!

Rich Clawson

Rich Clawson is an active full time police officer in Utah with over 27 years of experience, over 10 years on multiple SWAT teams, and 2 years of experience as an OCONUS Security Contractor in Afghanistan. He currently works for the only major mass transit department in the state of Utah and is assigned to the K9 Unit with his Explosives Detection K9 partner Lucca. Rich has also acted as the K9 Unit Trainer assisting with the training of numerous Law Enforcement dogs across the region.

Before joining his current police department Rich worked for the largest police department in Utah where finishing his career as a Patrol & Detection K9 handler. His K9 partner, Jäger, was an amazing dog with the pair winning numerous awards both narcotics detection and patrol divisions an overall 2nd Place trophy in their first very first trial and a narcotics detection 1st Place trophy in their last trial.

Prior to his K9 career, Rich worked hard to obtain various instructor certifications including FBI Firearms Instructor, ALERRT Active Shooter Instructor, as well as Axon Taser, Sabre Red OC Spray, and ASP batons Instructor certifications. Rich’s SWAT experience spans multiple roles including entry team, explosive breacher, assistant squad leader and squad leader.

As an OCONUS Contractor Rich worked as an International Police Advisor where he trained local nationals in basic law enforcement skills. Rich also assisted with various PSD assignments protecting members of the United States State Department and other high ranking Afghan officials.

Marissa Abram

Columbus, Ohio

Marissa has over 10 plus years of teaching experience and has been working with dogs professionally for over 5 years.  Over Marissa’s professional dog training career she has served in both local and national roles for The Dog Wizard training company. These roles included as an Instructor for the National Dog Wizard Academy, as a K9 Trainer and Owner of Dog Wizard Virginia Beach, and as a National Corporate Compliance Mentor for Dog Wizard franchisee’s across the country.

Marissa is proud to be the current Chief Executive Officer of The Dog Wizard Las Vegas and in her free time competes with her dogs in AKC Obedience, Trick Dog, Dock Dogs, and K9 Frisbee Toss & Fetch.  Marissa is also an AKC CGC approved evaluator and a full time High School Math Teacher.

Always hungry for knowledge, Marissa is excited to be bringing her talents to the detection and patrol side of the K9 Industry.

We are happy to add Marissa’s passion, skill set and experience to our team as an ICRWDA Obedience Instructor & Trainer. We also routinely rely on her epic math skills. Thank you Marissa!

Cliff Davis

Las Vegas, Nevada

Cliff Davis is a current State Trooper in the State of Nevada with over 16 years of experience. He started his career as a Police Officer in the State of Alaska with the Sitka Police Department fulfilling many roles including Field Training Officer, Taser Instructor and School Resource Officer. After seven years, he joined The Nevada Highway Patrol. As a State Trooper he has served his agency as a Field Sobriety Test Instructor, Drug Recognition Expert and is a member of the NHP Mobile Field Force (Riot Team). Cliff is currently a narcotics K9 handler and member of the NHP Drug Task Force. 

His current partner, K9 Skip, is a German Shorthaired Pointer and is a wonderful dog who was named after a fallen NHP Sergeant Michael ‘Skipper’ Jenkins. Unlike most Law Enforcement handlers, Cliff has bonded with K9 Skip since he was three months old which has created a special bond during their tenure together. As a team, they have made numerous arrests and seizures to include drugs, guns, U.S. currency, stolen vehicles and fugitives from justice. 

Cliff has participated and judged in several K9 trials in the Las Vegas, NV area and continues to build his skills and stay active in the K9 community.

Jodie Noy

Canberra, Australia

Jodie Noy has been a patrol and detection K9 Handler for over 10 years, working for various private security firms across Australia. She also routinely fulfills the roles of Judge at K9 Trials in the United States and Instructor assisting developing working K9s and their Handlers across the Asian Pacific region including for the Thailand National Police.

In additional to her ICRWDA Instructor, Trainer, & Certifying Official roles, Jodie also fills similar roles for the Australian Working Patrol Dog Association.

Before her Handler career began, she honed her K9 behavior and training skills working behind the scenes at a kennel for a certified dog trainer helping to train working dogs and caring for the boarding dogs. This wealth of experience directly led to a career in the K9 Security field. Jodie and her K9 partners have protected high value assets, businesses, festivals, sports & concert arenas, military bases, bars (she calls them pubs) and night clubs across New South Wales.

Jodie brings a unique perspective and extensive private sector experience along with an unparalleled work ethic to the ICRWDA Staff cadre. Thank you for joining our team Jodie!

Rattana Hin

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Rattana Hin’s K9 background extends over 15 years of canine handling and training including Service Dogs, Search and Rescue K9s, and detection and patrol Police K9s. 

Rattana started his career with dogs in 2005 in the private sector before bringing his passion into Law Enforcement world where he currently works for the Cambodia National Police as Chief Warrant Officer and K9 Instructor with The Forensic Division. He has trained working K9s across Southeast Asia for a variety of law enforcement, military, and NGO K9 units including the Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC) K9 Unit.

His current dog, K9 Jazz is Trailing and Open Air Scenting Search & Rescue dog. Rattana & K9 Jazz worked numerous rescue incidents as well as assisting the Cambodian National Police Child Protection Unit.

Rattana’s expertise in SE Asian Law Enforcement operations and SAR experience strengthens ICRWDA Training Cadre as both a Trainer and Certifying Official. Thank you Rattana!

K9 Duci

K9 Duci is a female Belgian Malinois born on October 1st, 2016 in Serbia. She was imported to Las Vegas as a puppy and then trained as an Explosives Detection Dog. She spent the following 5 years protecting the Las Vegas community including numerous casinos, sporting events, and concerts across the region.

She retired from her public safety duties in 2022 and was then adopted by the Millbern family. In addition to enjoying her new forever home, Duci now enjoys being a public relations K9 Ambassador for ICRWDA and was selected to be the official mascot for the Las Vegas Desert Dogs professional box lacrosse team.
